Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Program at BES!!!
“Book” Boot Camp!
Dear Parents,
As you know summer reading helps children retain the gains they make during the school year. Numerous studies have shown that reading over the summer prevents “summer reading loss”. Also, studies have shown that the benefits of summer reading, vocabulary retention, improved comprehension, and increased reading speed are greater when summer reading is done in conjunction with a summer reading program.
With that being said…
Bethel Elementary Library will be open every Tuesday this summer from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. That comes to a grand total of 7 Tuesdays that we will be open: June 12, 19, 26, July 3, 10, 17, & 24. Any student who comes and visits our library 5 out of the 7 times will receive a certificate of participation and will be invited to a “Book Boot Camp” at the beginning of school. Come get in SHAPE and checkout as many books as you want all summer long! We have over a thousand new books in our library!
Or…
We encourage you to get involved in the summer reading program through the Haywood County Public Library. The sign up for summer reading will be Tuesday, June 5th 10:30-2:00. Each student that participates in the public library activities or visits will be given a reading certificate from the library. Students who turn in this reading certificate will be invited to the “Book Boot Camp” at the beginning of the school year! Students need to only participate in one of the summer reading programs to get invited to the “Book Boot Camp”. For more information visit our website. I look forward to seeing you this summer!
Sincerely,
