Meadowbrook Pre-K

Just another Teacher Spaces weblog

Ms.Woody

I am very excited to be spending my second year teaching at Meadowbrook Elementary Pre-K!!!!  This is also my second year in the Haywood County School System, I was previous employed at Mountain Area Child and Family Center located in Buncombe County.  I have educated young children for eight years.

I graduated from Western Carolina in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Birth-Kindergarten.  I also graduated from Haywood Community College in 2002 with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

I have two wonderful boys: Carter, 7, who attends Clyde Elementary school and is in the second grade.  Sialas who is 4 and attends Meadowbrook Pre-K.  We love spending time together whether it is on the ball field, shopping, or on vacation during breaks!!!

My favorite quote is “If children are not learning the way we are teaching, then we need to teach the way that they learn.”  I feel as an educator it is very important for the teacher to meet ALL childrens needs in order to help them to be successful in life!!!!  In our classroom one may observe a lot of play but children this age learn BEST thru their play!!!!  It is not just play it’s socialization, problem-solving, communication skills, etc.

I am looking forward to a GREAT school year with many achievements for each child!!!!Summer 09 003

We are drawing our shapes!!!

We are drawing our shapes!!!

This week  we learned many shapes (circle, square, triangle, and rectangle).  We explored these shapes in many different ways ;for example, drawing in shaving cream, making small take home books, cotton ball shape art, etc.  The children enjoyed each and every day!!!
