Walker's "Wordly" World

6th grade, Team 4- HIGHLANDERS

As I begin my 23rd year teaching, I am still as excited today as I was the  first day I entered my classroom in Sampson County, N.C.  I grew up in the state of Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee, GO VOLS!  After marrying a fellow Tennessee graduate, who was a native of Haywood County, we made our home in North Carolina.  Due to my husband’s job, we moved several times throughout my first years teaching and I have had the pleasure of teaching in six different school systems around the state.  No system is more impressive and enjoyable than Haywood County.  I have taught grades 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Civics, Economics, General Science and Biology.  Middle grades education is my favorite and I am excited to be teaching 6th grade this year with teammate Mr. John McGuire. Even though, my husband and I are Tennessee VOLUNTEERS,  our daughter Laurel attends The University of Alabama, ROLL TIDE.  Our last family member is our 6 year old Yorkie named DINK.  The pic above was taken summer 2008 at the Tanzanian border when we were fortunate to travel to Kenya, Africa for a mission trip where we experienced life changing events.
